THUMPER

Thumper Rules (3v3)

Objective:

The objective of the game is to be more focused than the other team and not make a mistake.

Setup:

To play Thumper, you will need 1 official Pro Beer Sports table, 6 official cups, and 6 unopened 12 oz beers.

  • The official Pro Beer Sports table dimensions are 8’ (length) x 2’ (width) x 2.5’ (height).

  • The official Pro Beer Sports cups are 22 oz fluted stadium cups.

Each player has 1 cup with a 12 oz beer inside. Both teams sit around the table alternating players between teams. 3 players per side of the table. All players must have a member of the other team sitting to their left and right.

Who goes first:

One player from each play “Rock-Paper-Scissors”. The winner gets to pick which player goes first.

Gameplay:

The player that is going first gets to pick their “sign” first. A “sign” is a hand motion, gesture, or facial expression representing that player for the game. Signs cannot include mandatory sound effects, standing, or ambiguous movements. Signs should take less than 3 seconds to complete.

Once the first sign is chosen, go around the table to the right choosing signs. Once all signs are chosen, double check to make sure all the players know all the signs. We recommend one warm up round once all signs have been picked.

The player starting the round starts by drumming their hands on the table quickly. All players start drumming their hands on the table, only stopping to throw signs. The player that started the round asks "What is the name of the game?" The other players respond "Thumper!" The player the started the round now asks, "And why do we play it?" The other players respond however they want, but the common responses including drinking beer.

The starting player then does their sign immediately followed by another player's sign. The player whose sign was done second must now do their sign then another player's sign. This cycle repeats until a player makes a mistake. Mistakes include doing the signs out of order, doing the wrong sign, or doing the sign incorrectly. When a player makes a mistake, their team gets a strike and all teammates must drink 1/3 of their beer.

Winning:

The first team to force the other team into 3 strikes wins.

Special Rules:

Signs need to be reasonable, and players cannot choose signs that others would be uncomfortable performing.

Judgement Rulings:

Refs will decide what is a successful sign throw.
