MUG RACE
Mug Race Rules (4v4)
Objective:
The objective of the game is to finish all four mugs of beer before the opposing team.
Setup:
To play Mug Race, you will need at least 1 official Pro Beer Sports tables, 8 official Pro Beer Sports glass mugs, and 8 unopened cans of 12oz beer per round.
The official Pro Beer Sports table dimensions are 8’ (length) x 2’ (width) x 2.5’ (height).
The official Pro Beer Sports glass mug is 16 oz.
Pro Beer Sports tables are naturally broken into 4 quadrants by the table folds. Teams of 4 stand along the length of the table with one teammate per quadrant. Each player will be across the table from a player on the other team. Each player has one empty glass mug on the table in front of them. Before the game, pour a 12 oz beer fully into every glass mug.
Who goes first:
Both teams start at the same time. Teams need to agree which end to start the race and then place themselves accordingly.
Gameplay:
The ref will give a countdown (3, 2, 1, GO!) and the first players on each team may begin drinking. When a player is finished with their beer, they must place their mug back on the table. Once the first player puts their mug back on the table, the 2nd player can pick up their mug and being drinking. Same for the 3rd and 4th player.
Winning:
First team to properly drink all their mugs and set down their last mug wins.
Special Rules:
When a player sets their mug down, that signifies that are finished drinking. If you leave too much beer inside a mug, your team will be disqualified. Both teams need to drink all their beers and finish to the end just in case the other team leaves too much beer and gets disqualified.
In the Grand Finals of the Beerlympics, the last mug will be replaced with Das Boot with two 12 oz beers inside. All Das Boot spilling rules will apply.
Judgement Rulings:
If any player is seen to be spilling excessive amounts of beer while playing Mug Race, the refs may disqualify that team.
The refs will check how much beer is left in each mug at the end of the game. Excessive amounts may result in disqualification. If beer spillage and leftover beer is about equal for both teams, the team that finished first will be determined the winner.
FAQ:
What happens if both teams are disqualified?
If both teams get disqualified and completion time isn’t a factor, both teams will select 1 person who played the Mug Race to play a 1v1 Mug Race to determine the winner.
Can you hold your cup while you wait your turn?
Mugs not being used must remain untouched until it your turn. If you accidentally pick a mug up early or out of turn, you must set it back down and pick it up before you can drink it.
What happens if someone drinks their mug out of turn?
If a player drinks their beer before the previous mug is placed on the table, that is a disqualification.
Are distractions allowed?
Respectful distractions are allowed, but not over the mugs or table. You cannot touch opposing players or their mugs. All players must also always remain on their side of the table during a game. You may not blow or try to generate wind in any way towards the table, mugs, or players as a distraction. You may not try to shake the ground or table as a distraction. Personal insults will not be tolerated, be more creative.
